Hand Tufted

Design , size and color limitations are minimal and by using a combination of cut, loop, cut and loop, tip shearing and carving techniques, different pile heights, the result is beautiful, luxurious rugs to fit any area whether it be loose lay or inset into stone, marble or any hard surface flooring.

Most Hand Tufted designs use 100% New Zealand Wool and we offer 4 different qualities, OWH 450(cut or loop), OWH 550(cut or loop), OWH 650 (cut or loop) and OWH Signature loop. Different kinds of accent materials such as viscose, silk or other additives can be mixed to create an iridescence effect or to give the pile more structure.

Hand Tufted Rugs are constructed using a cotton canvas base. The design is transferred to the canvas by tracing the scaled design to the cotton scrim. The artisan is supplied with a color coding and then the pre-dyed yarn is inserted into the base using a tufting gun which is used freehanded by the extremely talented craftsman. After the product development has been completed, a thin layer of latex and backing is applied for added strength.
